Key Findings:

Kibbutz Be’eri was one of the 45 communities attacked by Hamas on October 7, 2023. It suffered immense loss and trauma.

The author recounts his experience returning to the kibbutz after the 7th of October. Friends and family were murdered, brutalized, or kidnapped by Hamas. The kibbutz itself was ravaged– Hamas deliberately targeted Kibbutz Be’eri and many other agricultural communities’ infrastructure, leaving unimaginable devastation and over $500 million in lost income for the country.

Barak describes the support he has received from people from all over the country, and from the countless volunteers who arrived from around the globe to help the kibbutzim recover. Though the pain is immense, he believes in Israel’s ability to recover, to rebuild, and to do it with strength, patience, and love.

Methodology:

A resident of Kibbutz Be’eri recounts the devastation that his community experienced during the Hamas massacre on October 7.
